SAN FRANCISCO, CA (PRWEB) November 22, 2012

The mesothelioma lawyers at Baron and Budd have announced an appellate win in a prior mesothelioma/asbestos lawsuit on behalf of Mrs. Joan Mahoney, mesothelioma patient, and her husband Mr. Daniel Mahoney. Mesothelioma lawyers John Langdoc and Denyse Clancy showed that Mrs. Mahoney’s mesothelioma cancer was caused by exposure to a joint compound manufactured by Georgia Pacific that contained asbestos. They also proved that Georgia Pacific knew before Mrs. Mahoney’s exposure to the asbestos-containing products that the asbestos materials in its products could caused cancer. Langdoc and Clancy represented the family at trial. (Georgia-Pacific, LLC, Defendant and Appellant v. Joan Mahoney and Daniel Mahoney, Plaintiffs and Respondents, Appeal from the Superior Court of San Francisco County, Case No. CGC-06-458140).

A native of San Francisco, Mrs. Mahoney spent decades in show business. According to court documents, she went around the world numerous times on various United Service Organizations (USO) tours. However, it was her involvement in a family-owned home remodeling business, that exposed Mrs. Mahoney to Georgia Pacific’s asbestos-containing joint compound.

According to court documents, in August of 2006 Mrs. Mahoney was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma, a cancer caused by asbestos exposure that attacks the lining of the lungs. When she was diagnosed, Mrs. Mahoney was the primary caregiver for her husband, who had recently suffered a stroke and was paralyzed and unable to speak. Mrs. Mahoney, weakened by her treatments and cancer, was not able to take care of him.
