Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) November 22, 2012

It's that time of the year again! Thanksgiving, a day that Americans show their appreciation for the freedom and liberties they have. One of the most treasured freedoms, the right to the pursuit of happiness is a right scripted in our nation’s constitution. And within this right to the pursuit of happiness is another inherent right, the right to health.

However, the right to natural health supplements is something not that should be taken for granted. It's this day that the Project for Natural Health Choices Inc. encourages people to show their appreciation of their freedoms and sign a petition that serves to protect American's freedom and access to natural health supplements, natural health exercise, and natural health therapies.

The FDA draft guidelines on “New Dietary Ingredients” (NDIs) may jeopardize citizens access to health supplements. After a huge cry out from the health supplement industry and consumers of health supplements over the first draft legislation, congress had the legislation put in for review and some changes to the draft legislation are required for it to pass. However, the revised draft guidance on NDIs still may end up costing people their access to health supplements, or what may be even worse, just plain costing people more.

According to Alliance for Natural Health USA, the proposed FDA regulations may become a problem for natural supplement consumers and industry alike. Basic vitamins like Vitamin A, B complex, C, and D, as well as CoQ 10 may be outlawed and nutritional supplements could be subject to outrageous testing requirements such as undergoing studies that mandate giving subjects doses multiplied by a “safety factor” of as high as 2,000 times the recommended dose, resulting in virtually every one of them being banned.

Animal activists may potentially get involved if costly animal testing became mandated, inflating the cost of basic natural dietary supplements. The only companies that would remain viable will be pharmaceutical giants that are only willing to provide the public with expensive brand drugs that they own monopolies on.

The president of the Project for Natural Health Choices Inc. who happens be a cancer survivor and natural health enthusiast, Larry Berman, speaks passionately. "I know people find it hard to find the time to write letters, to show support for causes they believe in. We are busy and hardworking people. But that's even more a reason for us to take a little bit of our time, really, less than a minute, to sign our petition that asks for the FDA's revised draft guidance of NDI's to be overturned. This extreme overbearing legislation will take away our excess to natural health supplements. I mean, needing a prescription to get Vitamin B? That's absolutely ludicrous, and people can't get ripped off by this government ruling that redirects money back into the hands of pharmaceutical companies."
