Some may be thinking – “only in America” and this is partially right as the new fiction novel ‘Taking it With You’ is set in Chicago and also in Dharamsala, India. It is being released this Saturday the 24th November and will be available as a free Kindle download for only 3 days.
Not so long ago there were only two certainties in life: death and taxes. Taxes seem to have become optional for some people but no one can cheat death.
The one thing that everybody knows for certain is that you can’t take anything with you when you die. The main character of ‘Taking it With You,’ Faith McCormack doesn’t believe this.
But if Faith McCormack had believed everything everybody told her then she would never have become one of the richest women on the planet. Angry and bitter she makes a vow to take everything with her when she dies. Sadly, cryogenics leaves her cold but the thought of leaving everything to herself, to her reincarnation sparks an obsession.
Faith reasons that if the Tibetan Buddhists can find the Dalai Lama’s reincarnation 14 times then surely for a very large sum of money they will agree to find hers once.
‘Taking it With You’ is a great west tries to buy east story. A prophecy that promises a free Tibet also plays a crucial role in the plot.
“Taking it With You” is a rich, light hearted drama that has spirit and soul and humour. It compares the fear of death in the west with the acceptance and understanding of death’s role in life in the east. It contrasts saffron with Armani, compassion with selfishness and happiness with profound unhappiness - in a good way.
