Rick Fender stated “Florida has a great deal of waterfront making it one of the most active marine construction areas in the country.” The Florida Marine Contractor’s Association strives to enhance the marine construction industry throughout Florida through education, working as licensing and insurance activists and providing the public with a resource to find the top Marine Contractors, Professionals and Associates in Florida. The FMCA website at http://www.MyFMCA.org is easy to search when the public wants to know which marine contractors are licensed and insured for marine construction. Marine Contractor’s listed on the FMCA website have proven to the FMCA Board of Directors that they have the appropriate licensing and insurance required for marine construction. Fender claims “only the very best marine contractors are members of this prestigious organization.”
“Marine construction in Florida requires not only the appropriate licensing, but it requires special insurance including liability insurance, worker’s compensation insurance as well as United States Longshore and Harborworker’s insurance” Fender explained. All Contractor members carry the appropriate insurance. “Marine construction is so different from other types of construction that the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board created a specialty license for the category, known as the Florida State Certified Marine Contractor’s License,” Fender explained. Fender stated “further, Fender Marine Construction is one of the select marine contractors to hold the license.
“Florida property waterfront owners wishing to enhance their waterfront enjoyment and property values can install docks, decks, boathouses, seawalls, stone revetments and other marine structures to accomplish their goals”, Fender explained.
