New Architecture and Chemical Engineering Sections Published at Sciences Social Network

The Architecture and Chemical Engineering Sciences are two new key engineering branches covered by the Sciences Social Network ScienceIndex.com. The users of the website monitor 170 scientific journals publishing in these two branches and submit the most recent and significant articles for inclusion in ScienceIndex.com. While the site currently contains a total of over 1,935,000 posts, it features almost 66,500 articles in these two sections. ScienceIndex.com was established in 1998 to index the very latest news, headlines, references and resources in all fields of biology, business, chemistry, engineering, geography, health, mathematics and society.

ScienceIndex.com is a Architecture and Chemical Engineering Sciences Social Network established in 1998 to index the very latest news, headlines, references and resources from science journals, books and websites worldwide. The site covers news in all fields of biology, business, chemistry, engineering, geography, health, mathematics and society. In the field of Engineering Sciences, the site has now included the two new categories Architecture and Chemical Engineering. While the Architecture section covers the design and construction of buildings, the Chemical Engineering section covers the technology of large-scale chemical production and the manufacture of products through chemical processes.

ScienceIndex.com's Engineering Category covers the design, manufacture, and operation of efficient and economical structures, machines, processes, and systems. Its eight sections include Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Communication, Control Systems, Electronics, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Users can receive alerts for newly published content in this category by subscribing to ScienceIndex.com's Engineering Category RSS feed.

ScienceIndex.com's Architecture section covers the design and construction of buildings. It currently contains 5,800 articles partly derived from 62 scientific architecture journals. The latest articles in this category are also available through an Architecture Section RSS feed. One of the latest additions to this section covers the influence of bicarbonate ions on the deterioration of mortar bars in sulfate solutions. The authors investigated mortars based on CEM I and CEM III/B cements. The presence of bicarbonate ions significantly reduced the expansion of the CEM I mortars while there was little expansion of the CEM III/B mortars. The section also features an abstract on the impact of hydroxypropylguars (HPG) on the early age hydration of Portland cement. The authors observed a weak influence of HPG on the germination of hydrates. In contrast, HPG induced a significant decrease in the hydrates growth rate. They conclude that HPG adsorption on hydrated phases via polar interactions is responsible for the delay.

ScienceIndex.com's Chemical Engineering Section covers the technology of large-scale chemical production and the manufacture of products through chemical processes. It currently contains over 60,500 articles derived from 110 scientific Chemical Engineering journals. The latest articles in this section are also available through a Chemical Engineering Section RSS feed. One recently included article in this section covers process parameters optimization of potential SO42-/ ZnO acid catalyst for heterogeneous transesterification of vegetable oil to biodiesel. Among the possible renewable energy resources, diesel fuels derived from triglycerides of vegetable oils and animal fats have shown potential as substitutes for petroleum-based diesel fuels. The biodiesel could be produced over homogeneous, heterogeneous, or enzymatic catalysts. The results of this study show that the acid catalyst SO42-/ZnO have potential to be used as catalyst for biodiesel production through heterogeneous transesterification of vegetable oils. Another article covers plant-wide utility disturbance management in the process industry. The authors focus on identifying disturbances in utilities and estimating the economical effects of such disturbances and present a general method for reducing the loss of revenue due to utility disturbances, the utility disturbance management (UDM) method. They applied this method to an industrial case at Perstorp, Sweden.

The Sciences Social Network currently contains over 1.93 million posts distributed among its' 68 categories. 82,700 users monitor 13,890 journals publishing within the scope of the site. Since new science content is discovered in real-time, the delay between original publication and appearance at ScienceIndex.com is no more than two days. The site provides an advanced search feature which suggests up to ten closely related articles for a search and every displayed post.
