Columbus, OH (PRWEB) November 27, 2012
Health Care DataWorks, Inc. (HCD), the leading provider of business intelligence solutions and healthcare analytics, continues to take a leading role in educating hospitals and health systems about managing the Value-based Purchasing requirements that took effect October 1, 2012.
Value-based Purchasing (VBP) is a program from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in which a portion of Medicare reimbursements are withheld based on how well hospitals perform on 20 core measures, ranging from patient satisfaction to quality of care. The higher the performance scores, the greater the opportunity for hospital and health systems to earn back withheld reimbursements.
Health Care DataWorks CEO Herb Smaltz will present a program entitled “Are you ready for Value-based Purchasing?” at 9 a.m., December 7, at the Northern Ohio Chapter of HIMSS Fall Conference, “Surviving Healthcare in the New Millennium.” Smaltz will provide valuable insights into how healthcare executives can manage Value-based Purchasing through the use of data and analytics. Other conference topics include:
- Readmission—Using technology to drive the number down
- Use of remote patient monitoring to avoid readmissions
- How “Big Data” can help hospitals improve quality and drive costs down
- Best practices and unique ideas in improving the bottom line
The mission of the Northern Ohio Chapter of HIMSS is to enhance professional knowledge, create forums for networking and foster leadership at the individual and corporate level. The upcoming conference will be held at the Embassy Suites in Independence, Ohio from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Conference registration can be found at http://www.nohimss.org.
