SkyIMD, the innovators in aerial imaging and intelligence solutions, announces that the Lea County Sheriff’s Office has selected the SkyFusion Pak aerial imaging system to expand its oilfield patrol capability. The SkyFusion Pak system is operated from a Cessna C-206 aircraft and primarily deployed to fight oilfield theft, among other missions.
Oilfield theft is a significant law enforcement challenge in Lea County and in other parts of the country. Nationally, the value of oilfield thefts is estimated to be nearly $1 billion. Based in Lovington, New Mexico, the Lea County Sheriff’s Office had previously conducted aerial patrol via a spotter with binoculars. With SkyFusion Pak, the Sheriff’s Office has enhanced its capabilities to include full-motion video and real-time imaging with fully integrated telemetry and geo-spatial data.
“SkyFusion Pak allows us to affordably and efficiently patrol oilfields, and conduct multiple missions at a time,” said Undersheriff Jim Wilmeth. “We chose the SkyIMD solution because of its features and flexibility and we expect to integrate SkyFusion Pak into more operations.”
“SkyFusion Pak is designed to be a cost-effective solution for operations like the Lea County Sheriff’s Office,” said Tom Bleier, vice president of business development at SkyIMD. “The Lea County Sheriff’s Office investigators appreciate the real-time data it captures to support search warrants. SkyFusion Pak provides exceptional performance for law enforcement.”
