Data Governance Winter Conference

Now that Big Data is emerging from sandbox projects and into mainstream business applications, we start to see that Big Data actually exposes numerous information and data governance risks.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 30, 2012

The relationship between Big Data and Data Governance is the theme of a Keynote Panel during this year’s 2012 Data Governance Winter Conference taking place at the Westin Beach Resort and Spa in Ft. Lauderdale, FL December 3 – 5, 2012. The conference is organized by DebTech International and Dataversity.

Tony Shaw, Founder and CEO of Dataversity will be moderating the panel called “If You’re Not Doing Big Data Governance Now, You Soon Will Be.” The panel conversation will analyze the difficult questions and regulations as Big Data starts to penetrate the walls of corporate information management. The panel will discuss how Big Data governance is different than traditional approaches, as well as the technological changes and regulatory pressures that are creating these new needs.

“Now that Big Data is emerging from sandbox projects and into mainstream business applications, we start to see that Big Data actually exposes numerous information and data governance risks,” Shaw says. “These need to be tackled now, before they become too big to fail.”

The panelists involved in the Big Data Governance discussion are:

Sunil Soares, Founder and Managing Partner, Information Assets LLC
Eric Chacon, Global Head of Data Standards, Chief Data Office, Citi
Maria C. Villar, Global Vice President, Data Governance and Management, SAP

The conference curriculum is suitable both for those who are starting out with data governance, as well as those who already have programs in place. Novices will learn how to plan for Data Governance, addressing both the business and IT sides of the equation. The agenda includes foundational “how to” sessions, breakout discussion groups and case studies to meet the diverse needs of the audience. Experienced practitioners will learn from more advanced case studies and in-depth classes and can expect to return to their organizations armed with specific governance improvements.

The 2012 Data Governance Winter Conference is sponsored by a prestigious list of industry leaders including: IBM, Global IDs, PwC, SAS Dataflux, Aprimo, ASG Software Solutions, Collibra, Innovative Systems, Inc., SAP, Trillium Software, and Winshuttle.
