Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 29, 2012
Online learning developer Wowzers announced today that its namesake program has been approved for use by the California Learning Resource Network (CLRN). With CLRN approval, Wowzers joins a select group of learning tools approved for use in all California public schools, for purchase with state-allocated funds.
As an approved program, California’s more than 10,000 public schools can now incorporate Wowzers’ adaptive, game-based math and science Common Core instruction as a supplemental resource in their classrooms.
“Wowzers’ goal is to excite and engage students in the subjects of math and science, and CLRN’s approval means that we can now partner with students and teachers in California to make that happen,” said Wowzers president Andrew Howard. “Schools who currently use Wowzers have praised the program for helping engage and motivate students to succeed regardless of their learning level, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to positively impact California students as well.”
To be chosen and approved through CLRN, a product must go through a rigorous review process. The CLRN review of supplemental electronic learning resources consists of evaluating resources for alignment to the State Board approved CLRN review criteria and includes the following three major components: Legal Compliance, Standards Alignment, and Minimum Requirements. California Content Standards Match verification, CLRN minimum requirements review, and Social Content review. Resources that meet the CLRN review criteria are included in the CLRN database and website.
Based in Chicago, Ill., Wowzers is a game-based, adaptive online learning program where story-driven games and activities replace assessments, manipulatives and textbooks. The Wowzers program, which includes math Common Core curriculum for 3rd-5th grade and supplemental curriculum for 6th-8th grade, is built on a powerful, cloud-based platform that adapts to the learning style of each student for a truly personalized and effective learning experience anywhere there is an internet-connected device.
