We had an excellent instructor and found a format that appealed to many of our member firms looking to further the professional education of their employees.
Gainesville, Florida (PRWEB) November 30, 2012
In the association’s second year of offering a series of webinars with expert speakers, CPAmerica International had record attendance from its members, with nearly 3,000 CPAs participating.
“We are very pleased with the member turnout to our tax series these past two years,” said Linda Harding, CPAmerica’s Director of Tax. “We had an excellent instructor and found a format that appealed to many of our member firms looking to further the professional education of their employees.”
This year’s tax series included four basic/intermediate and four advanced webinars on S corporation taxation. Last year’s series covered basic through advanced partnership taxation. Both series were presented by well-known speaker James R. Hamill, CPA, Ph.D., shareholder and the Director of Tax Practice at Reynolds, Hix & Co., P.A. in New Mexico.
The basic webinars covered topics such as S corporation eligibility and elections, formation and capital structure issues, taxable income and conversion of status, distributions and basis issues. The advanced webinars covered topics such as special problems with eligibility and elections, stock and debt basis and loss limitations, entity-level taxes and S terminations, and taxable and nontaxable purchases and sales of S corporations.
CPAmerica also held a four part webinar series for the accounting and audit member staff for the first time. The series, presented by nationally known expert Dr. Thomas Ratcliffe, Ph.D., CPA, CGMA, of Plain-English Accounting drew nearly 400 participants.
Additional webinar series are being planned for 2013 and include an eight-part series on international taxation.
