Severe Medical Conditions that could develop in a nursing home, or rehabilitation center because of neglect, or abuse from the Nursing Home Complaint Center:

• Sepsis: infection in blood stream due to bedsores/ ulcers (Resident my also display altered mental status);
• Septic Shock: Sepsis with refractory hypotension and perfusion abnormalities (ex. Lactic acidosis, oliguria, alteration in mental status);
• Severe Sepsis: infection in the blood stream causing one or more of the following: 1.) Organ Dysfunction; 2.) Hypoperfusion (ex. Lactic acidosis, oliguria, alteration in mental status)
• Bed Sores also known as Decubitis Ulcers. These are pressure ulcers that began during the stay at the Nursing Home.
