Election Trust Brings King CD Balloting Into 21st Century

1.2 million King County, Washington voters will be eligible to cast a secure online ballot from their home, office or from a network of participating public libraries

For the sixth consecutive year King Conservation District (King CD) has chosen Election Trust to administer its annual 2013 Supervisor Election. And, for the 3rd year in a row, over 1.2 million King County, Washington voters will be eligible to cast a secure online ballot from their home, office or from a network of participating public libraries.

Election Trust, working with its longtime technology partner Scytl USA, provides King CD voters with a ‘one-step’ online process where a qualified voter can both apply for, and cast, a ballot in just a couple of minutes during one secured computer session.

• Those voters who submitted signed and verified voter affidavits and received a voting PIN in 2012 will be able to reuse that PIN to vote in 2013 without the need to submit another signed affidavit. Participating 2013 voters who did not submit a signed affidavit in 2012 will need to print, sign and submit the2013 affidavit form for verification to Election Trust in order for their vote to be ruled valid and counted (all signatures will be verified by King County Elections).

For those 2013 voters without internet access, a voting terminal will be made available at the King Conservation District Renton, Washington office during the election’s 2-week period in February and March (Dates TBD). Otherwise, voters needing internet access should find online ballot accessibility at one of their local library as many King County Library System locations and the Downtown Seattle Public Library are expected to have a 2013 King CD Supervisor Voter Guide available for reference.

King CD is one of 47 conservation districts in Washington State, with oversight from the Washington State Conservation Commission, an agency created to assist and guide conservation district activities in Washington State. King CD and Election Trust initiated the online voting alternative following the November, 2010 revisions in rules governing conservation district elections in Washington State.
