80% of Registry members receive job offers within 30 days.
Walnut Creek, CA (PRWEB) December 03, 2012
Two graduates from the November Home Care Provider workshop received job offers within two weeks of training. Both are now employed.
The Home Care Provider workshops are run by Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services and are sanctioned by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education. Workshops are eligible for Work Force Investment (WIA) funding to qualifying individuals.
After receiving workshop certificates including CPR, senior nutrition, and dementia, and completion of background checks, graduates were placed on the Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services Home Care Registry. The Registry receives over 200 inquiries each month for homecare providers. 80% of Registry members are offered positions within 30 days.
"Six people graduated from the last workshop and all have received job interviews," said Elaine Clark, Executive Director. "We have been offering this free service to seniors and homecare providers for 37 years. We recently began charging a fee for the workshops and one-year of Registry membership. As a result we have been able to increase the depth of training and job coaching. All fees are covered by WIA for those who qualify. CNA's are also signing up for refresher courses and to be placed on our Registry."
The Homecare Provider workshops are believed to be the only in-depth training for non-medical services, sanctioned by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education and eligible for WIA funding in California, certainly within the San Francisco Bay Area.
"We are proud of the training and service we can provide," said Ms. Clark. "Our goal is to help seniors age in place for as long as possible. Using qualified, low cost homecare providers is a critical resource."
Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services never charges seniors requesting our services. If a senior requests a homecare provider, they are matched with Registry members, whom they may choose to interview and employee. Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services follows up with each senior and Registry member.
Studies indicate that the number of seniors age sixty and older will double in the next 5 years. As a result of this "Silver Tsunami," the need for qualified homecare providers will increase. Trained homecare providers will continue to be in demand for many years.
