This first-ever award recognizes alliances in high-performing supply chains that are driving results. Attention is focused on why and how the alliance was formed, the roles of the various partners, and the results attained by the close collaboration and cooperation represented by the alliance.

"The winners of The Alliance award exhibited a strong recognition of the benefits of a more holistic view of their supply chains and the vendors, suppliers, customers, and peers who are partners in driving positive results which benefit all of the partners," says Sarah Harding, Group Publisher of World Trade 100. Danny Slaton, SMC³ executive vice president, added, “These 16 elite award winners represent a great cross-section of supply chain organizations. Their successes illustrate just how important collaboration is to supply chain optimization. We look forward to sharing their best practice approaches at The Alliance awards ceremony.”

In the domestic and international freight categories, for instance, transportation decisions were not made in isolation. This year’s recipients of The Alliance awards in the freight categories looked beyond the four walls of their enterprise to form partnerships. They also strove to optimize more than transportation costs and flows, which had significant impact on optimizing other operations as well as providing benefits for all of the partners.

In the sustainability and warehousing categories, objectives were clearly stated, and the results typically exceeded the stated goals and delivered positive results for the alliance partners in areas beyond what was originally targeted for improvement.

The December 2012 issue of World Trade 100 features the results of The Alliance winners. In January 2013, the awards will be presented at SMC³ Jump Start 2013, as well as further coverage in an iPub and digital edition through World Trade 100’s iPad app and http://www.worldtradeWT100.com.

We would like to thank our judges for their participation, their insights on the entries and their time reading over each of the entries in the categories they judged.
