Eclipsall and Ferguson-Neudorf Glass Collaborate on Building Integrated Solar PV Installation for Halifax Office Tower

Eclipsall and Ferguson-Neudorf Glass announced today that the two companies are collaborating on the manufacture of building-integrated PV (BIPV) modules for the 22 storey TD Halifax Tower in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The project will employ 300Wp frameless glass-on-glass PV modules installed and used as a street level canopy along the south and west facades of the building. Also, there will be 190Wp frameless glass-on-glass window shading modules installed on the south façade of the structure.

This installation enables the building owner to achieve LEED Gold Status on this project as defined by LEED Core & Shell 2009, which achieves 2 credits for 1/2% (.005), or 4 credits for 1% (.01) of the total predicted energy demand of the building.

BIPV materials are designed to replace conventional construction materials within the outer envelope of a building including roof, skylights, glazing, exterior surfaces and facades. In addition to producing electricity, BIPV installations add structural value and can enhance a building’s aesthetic quality and design. .
