A recent study by social media company Recommend.ly has found that 70.1 percent of studied Facebook Pages are updated less than once per month. Samuel Junghenn founder of Web Marketing Agency Think Big Online says this is expected.
“In my experience working with businesses of all sorts and sizes often I find that the business owners have set up the social accounts but all work has stopped at this point. They find it too hard to regularly update them, keep engaged with their fans and buy into the negative media hype that Facebook doesn’t work.” Said Mr Junghenn
According to a similar report published by Econsultancy community pages are the most likely to be inactive followed closely by company pages with 73.5% of company pages having very little activity.
Our of all company pages that were assessed during this period the leading Facebook Page types with the most updates were from Politicians’ closely followed by Actors or Directors. 5.5% of Politician Pages were updated more than 100 times per month and 5.2% of Actor/Director Pages were updated over 100 times per month.
“One of the figures from this report which shocked me the most was that 60.6% of small business Facebook pages are updated less than once per month. Considering the positive press about small business returns from Facebook this just seems ludicrous.” Said Mr Junghenn
