Hope For The Warriors® has provided emergency financial assistance through the Immediate Needs Program to wounded service members, their families and families of the fallen. This Fall, Hope For The Warriors® is proud to announce the renaming of this program to Critical Care Coordination in an effort to better reflect the true goals of the program and the work that is accomplished. Hope For The Warriors® has a long history of working with wounded warrior units, military medical facilities, VA caseworkers, and more to identify and resolve both short term and long term financial problems for military families.
Under the umbrella of Critical Care Coordination, program coordinators will continue their work with military families to address immediate and emergency financial needs. They will also continue to work with the Department of Veteran Affairs, the military unit, medical professionals, the Department of Defense, and other nonprofit organizations.
By collaborating with other agencies and nonprofits, Hope For The Warriors® can assist with more than just the emergency needs. The emergency assistance is often needed during a time of transition for families: newly injured, transitioning out of the military, or loss of jobs due to injuries.
In 2012, more than $400,000 was given in financial assistance was provided through the Critical Care Coordination Program. In addition, many families were assisted through resource management and referrals. Hope For The Warriors® has been assisting military families with emergency financial assistance since 2007. In total, the Critical Care Coordination Program has helped more than 1,300 military families.
“The ultimate goal is to pinpoint solutions that will help the family not just today but also in the future,” Tina Atherall, LMSW, Hope For The Warriors® Executive Vice President said. “After the emergency is solved, we continue to work with the family by utilizing our programs to provide a full cycle of care.”
