The Disabled Veterans National Foundation , a non-profit veterans service organization that focuses on helping men and women who serve and return home wounded or sick after defending our safety and our freedom, is pleased with the success of its most recent webinar. The webinar, held on the November 14th, discussed the various ways that military experience can be utilized to one’s advantage when looking for a job.
The guest speaker for the webinar was Christopher Kerney, director of marketing and public relations for http://www.militaryvetjobs.com. Kerney talked about overcoming perceived disadvantages encountered by veterans looking for civilian jobs, and how to leverage intangible skills learned in the military with a potential employer.
The webinar was informative and offered a unique perspective on difficulties veterans face, and great ways to overcome those difficulties.
“With unemployment so high for veterans, especially OIF/OEF veterans who have recently returned home, this webinar is a great way to get free advice for job-seeking veterans,” said Precilla Wilkewitz, President of DVNF. “It is important for both veterans and employers to understand each other, and this webinar offered that perspective from both sides.”
The webinar, the fourth in the series, along with the previous three webinars, is now archived on the DVNF website.
DVNF has also announced plans to continue this webinar series, citing its importance to veterans and veteran advocates alike to help our nation’s vets to find meaningful employment. Though the date has not been announced for the next installment, the organization is planning for a launch date sometime in early 2013.
