TakeLessons, the largest local music lessons provider in the U.S., recently announced the launch of their “Season of Song” holiday promotion, which propelled the company to record sales and its best Cyber Monday yet.
As millions of shoppers browsed the Internet for deals and offers, TakeLessons reported its most successful sales day to date and saw an increase in consumers booking online and using mobile devices and tablets to access the website. This year, 25 percent of site traffic came from a mobile device, a 53 percent increase over last year’s Cyber Monday sale. Visits on tablet devices increased 44 percent from the prior year.
Additional sales trends the company saw were:
- Gift certificates comprised almost 4 percent of total sales
- The five top-performing cities for lessons were New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas/Ft. Worth and Denver
- Top-performing lesson types were vocal, piano and guitar lessons
As part of the promotion, TakeLessons offered new students 20 percent off lesson packages on both Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
“The increase in sales confirms that consumers are getting more comfortable booking local services like music lessons online,” said TakeLessons CEO Steven Cox. “Virtual word-of-mouth allows instant feedback on service providers and companies like TakeLessons are creating next-generation platform tools like online scheduling, billing support and marketing all to help service providers make a living doing what they love.”
This year, TakeLessons is also donating a portion of their holiday sales to San Diego-based non-profit Guitars in the Classroom, a program that trains, equips and empowers classroom and music teachers to sing, play guitar, teach and lead songs as well as compose lyrics for learning with their students.
