Washington, DC (PRWEB) December 07, 2012
Virginia Union University announced last Friday that Turner Construction Company in association with TK Davis Construction was selected to build the University’s Robert J. Brown Living and Learning Center. This fast-tracked project broke ground yesterday, Thursday, December 6, 2012 and will complete in January, 2014.
Named for a former Special White House Assistant in the Richard Nixon administration, and the founder, chairman and CEO of B&C Associates, the Living and Learning Center will be a 78,000 SF multi-level complex consisting of a conference and 450-seat seminar facility and two four-story residential suites supporting 240 beds. The new building will be the first new construction since the L. Douglas Wilder Library and Learning Resource Center in 1997. The last residence hall on the Lombardy Street campus was built in 1966.
“Turner is thrilled to partner with TK Davis and KEi Architects on this new building on the Virginia Union University Campus,” said Ken Jones, Vice President and General Manger of Turner’s Washington, DC office. “As a contractor, Turner is excited to be a part of this project that will greatly contribute to the surrounding campus and Richmond community.”
