On December 11, 2012, Quorn Foods Inc. responded to a USA Today article regarding ex-President Bill Clinton dropping his meat eating ways, and turning to healthy food with a vegetarian diet.

According to the USA Today article, “The former president, known for his love of burgers, barbecue and junk food, has gone from a meat lover to a vegan, the strictest form of a vegetarian diet.” The article mentions that Bill Clinton has changed his junk food ways and now eats plenty of fruits and beans.

According to the article, “Clinton, 65, who had quadruple bypass surgery in 2004 and then stent surgery in 2010”, is following this eating plan to improve his heart health. The article stated that Clinton has influenced many others to go meat-free and choose healthy food instead of what they used to eat. "What the science shows is that people who are vegetarians have a lower risk of heart disease and cancer, especially colon cancer, and they tend to live longer," said Elizabeth Turner, Editor in Chief of the Vegetarian Times.

Quorn Foods Inc. responded to the article by commending Clinton on his health conscious decision to eliminate the meat from his diet and turn to healthy food. “When someone who is a high profile figure like Bill Clinton, it brings a lot of good attention to vegetarianism and lets people know its a good thing, says Quorn representative David Wilson. “Quorn Food products offer recipes and meat alternatives that can aid people in their vegetarian diets, new and old.”

Quorn launched nationally in the US in 2002. Unlike other vegetarian food companies, Quorn uses mycoprotein: a naturally occurring, healthy form of protein that replicates the taste and texture of meat while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories than meat substitutes. Quorn offers a wide range of products including ready to serve meals, food for your barbecue, breaded meat substitutes, snacks and components to make your own meals from scratch. The wonderful taste of Quorn meatless meals provides the taste of the foods you love without sacrificing nutrition.
