The attorneys at d'Oliveira & Associates have recently obtained an award for a Foster, RI client whose case was brought before the Social Security Administration. The woman (whose name is withheld due to attorney-client privilege) became disabled in 2011 and has since been unable to work. Due to multiple surgeries on discs in her back, surgeries on both feet, the widowed client was able to recover over $13,600 in withheld Social Security Disability, plus an additional $8,400 in Supplemental Security Income, nearly $700 a month for the rest of her life, and Medicare.

The woman, who applied for and was denied any benefits by the Social Security Administration's office last year, contacted the law offices of d'Oliveira & Associates. There, Attorney Laura Cameron won her case and did not charge her a fee until she received her back due benefits.

Attorney Paul d’Oliveira stated that “Attorney Laura Cameron did a great job here getting this woman on Disability Benefits. I am seeing Laura win more and more of these cases and she really enjoys helping people. There is not much more rewarding than helping someone who is in need get the help they need.”

In addition to receiving Social Security Disability Benefits and payments, Attorney Cameron was able to get the Social Security Administration to pay the client Supplemental Security Income (SSI). While the process of applying for and receiving disability benefits is a complex, and often unsuccessful task, the eligibility of persons receiving additional SSI is even more so. SSI is only for those disabled persons who are over 65 years of age, fall into a lower income category, and own very little resources. The program allows those in need of additional benefits to receive a monthly income up to the maximum federal rate. Because the process of applying for and receiving not only Social Security Disability benefits, but also Supplemental Security Income, is time consuming and difficult, it is important that those persons who are unable to work and believe they qualify for additional SSI benefits to contact an experienced Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income attorney who knows the procedures and can work to ensure that those persons in need receive the safety net of benefits they deserve.

If you or someone you know is disabled and cannot work, the attorneys at d'Oliveira & Associates want you to know that you may qualify for Federal Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income payments and benefits. d’Oliveira & Associates is a Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts law firm that focuses on disability and personal injury claims, including auto accidents, slip and falls, dog bites as well as social security disability cases. The firm also works with some of the leading attorneys in the United States for dangerous drug, defective medical product and medical malpractice cases.
