Ottawa, ON (PRWEB) December 10, 2012
UsedOttawa.com is proud to announce its first annual ‘Ottawa Porch Day’ to help provide toys and snowsuits for children and families in the Ottawa area. On Saturday, December 15th Ottawa-Gatineau area residents (and businesses that are open) are encouraged to donate toys and snowsuits by leaving them on their front porches, front steps or wherever they can be easily spotted.
Those looking to donate can email their address along with a brief item description and pick-up instructions to porchday (at) usedeverywhere (dot) com. Pick-ups will begin at 10 AM. Residents can also choose to keep their donations inside and specify in their email to ring door bell or knock to pick up the donations.
The UsedOttawa.com team is supporting two local causes with this Porch Day initiative:
1- New ‘unwrapped’ toy donations will be given to the Salvation Army's Toy Mountain.
2- Donations of children's and adults' snowsuits (also including hats, mitts, and boots) will be donated to the Snowsuit Fund.
“We’re very excited to help out these great charities that work so hard to support children and their parents over the holidays,” said Julia Milstone-Turner, UsedOttawa.com Marketing Assistant & Community Angel. “Our community is very generous, and we hope that by making it easy to donate on their own doorsteps, we will generate a great level of participation.”
Businesses that are open on December 15th are also encouraged to participate. They should email their address, item description and pick-up instructions to porchday (at) usedeverywhere (dot) com.
