Brooklyn's Green Dry Cleaners, Bridgestone Cleaners

We look forward to becoming a Greener business and working with others to give back to our environment and leave a better place for the next generation

Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) December 11, 2012

Brooklyn real estate attorney Robert Howe - host of Howe's New York and 2012 Rocket lawyer Attorney of the Year - welcomed Ken Kinzer of Bridgestone Cleaners to his show this past Thursday to discuss what it means to be a truly green, Eco-friendly business in Brooklyn, NY.

Mr. Howe, who is also President of the Merchants of Third Avenue - one of the largest merchant organizations in Brooklyn - often has local small businesses as his guest. The green business space had yet to be covered and the green topic was one that was very near and dear to Mr. Kinzer.

"In 1986 there were no alternatives to perchlorethylene which is now classified as a probable carcinogen. having no choice we went with what was available. When faced with a change in venue in 2000 I decided to look into other less hazardous solvents that were coming available," said Bridgestone Cleaners Owner Ken Kinzer.

"It took New York City another two years until 2002 to approve the use of Hydrocarbon which we were first to install in Brooklyn. After a few years I began reading about a company called Green Earth which dry cleaned using a base solution of liquefied sand, also known as Siloxane, which is commonly found in shampoos, conditioners , underarm deodorant and even chap stick. We also just recently began recycling clean water used to cool down our machinery. We don't just talk about being Green, we work at it every day."

Robert Howe and Ken Kinzer have both called Brooklyn home for their businesses for over 30 years and as a leader in the Brooklyn community Mr. Howe asked the most important reason for deciding to be a green business:

"We look forward to becoming a Greener business and working with others to give back to our environment and leave a better place for the next generation," said Mr. Kinzer.
