“Search engines were great in the past, but are frustrating now as the results are filled with fluff and keywords. We realized that there was a need for a curated alternative that was aimed at true fitness enthusiasts.”

Libreeze announces the launch of its new iPad application today, providing fitness enthusiasts access to a peer-reviewed, continuously updated digital library of virtually every reputable article about fitness on the Web. This “living library” can be purchased for an annual license fee of $4.99 from the iTunes app store or the company’s website. The library can also be viewed on a PC or Mac.
“Libreeze and our partners have a common goal-- to make high quality health and fitness information easy to find and readily available,” said Senior Vice President, Steve Pelletier. “Search engines were great in the past, but are frustrating now as the results are filled with fluff and keywords. We realized that there was a need for a curated alternative that was aimed at true fitness enthusiasts.”
Pelletier and the engineers behind Libreeze responded to the need for a new type of information platform capable of organizing, in a user-focused manner, the enormous amount of fitness-related content available on the Web. The platform allows users to identify and consume relevant, topical information from a very large number of reputable sources without wading through a bunch of economically-driven search results. The Libreeze platform is built for organizing large amounts of long-tail content, whereas websites are primarily designed to deliver what’s new now. It’s the ultimate directory of everything fitness on the Web. (More libraries on varying topics scheduled to rollout in 2013.)
To build the library, Libreeze has partnered with many of the country’s most respected fitness bloggers, all of whom agreed that it was time for a comprehensive, peer-sourced fitness library, and more than twenty of whom have built libraries of their own to supplement their blogs. Together these bloggers have a combined audience of more than 2 million fitness enthusiasts.
"The Libreeze fitness library is a must-have resource for the serious fitness enthusiast,” says MobilityWod cofounder Kelly Starrett, DPT. “It’s the “no bull” approach to retrieving information from the Web.” “In addition,” Starrett said, “we are creating a MobilityWod library so that I now have a place to house not only our original content, but also the articles, videos, and research papers that I read and would like to share with my readers. I can now bring all of that information together in a permanent library type format and share this knowledge with the fitness community.”
Founded by a team of fitness-enthusiast tech industry veterans, Libreeze has created a platform that is the expression of years of experience in language analytics, library science and information retrieval. The team deeply understands the needs of information consumers in our age of information overload.
