Terre Haute, IN (PRWEB) December 13, 2012

As part of an ongoing commitment to increase the percentage of students who complete a four-year college degree, Indiana State University has partnered with InsideTrack, a national student success organization, to launch an executive-style coaching program for incoming ISU students.

Earlier this year, ISU issued a request for proposals to support the university in a focused effort to improve student retention and graduation rates. After evaluating several alternatives, ISU determined that InsideTrack was best suited to partner with the university in achieving its retention and success goals.

“ISU has long been committed to inclusivity and providing quality educational experiences to a diverse student population,” said Joshua Powers, interim associate vice president for student success at ISU. “Our partnership with InsideTrack is designed to support incoming students in mapping out a plan for success and overcoming the potential obstacles to on-time graduation.”

In addition to providing one-on-one student mentoring, InsideTrack will work with ISU to:

  •     Map the student experience and identify key drop points for various programs
  •     Develop a deep understanding of drop reasons for distinct student populations
  •     Identify the preparedness gaps of incoming students
  •     Put in place measurement mechanisms to access the impact of performance enhancement initiatives

Overall, the program is designed to address several key performance criteria, including overall student persistence, on-time graduation and degree completion rates, as well as success rates for “at-risk” students.

“For more than a decade, InsideTrack has worked with universities to enhance student success and the student experience,” said Josh Williams, director of program development at InsideTrack. “Our goal in this partnership is to support Indiana State in its mission to prepare all of its students for long-term success.”

ISU and InsideTrack will conduct a small scale trial of the new coaching program in January, expanding the program to 1,000 incoming students in the Fall 2013 semester.
