Tampa, Fla. (PRWEB) December 14, 2012

Ultimate Medical Academy (UMA) announced a fundraising campaign to contribute to American Red Cross relief efforts and extend holiday spirit to victims of hurricane Sandy. UMA staff organized and participated in fundraising which took place through December 12. As part of its ongoing commitment to community, UMA promised to amplify the good will of its employees with a dollar-for-dollar match. They raised a total of $3,410 for the storm victims.

"Thanks to the amazing efforts of our corporate supporters following Superstorm Sandy, millions of dollars have been raised for American Red Cross Disaster Relief and hurricane response through philanthropic gifts, employee donations and cause promotion," said Michelle Kates, American Red Cross Senior Associate, Corporate and Foundation Partnerships. "The outpouring of support we received from people all across the country has been incredible."

Superstorm Sandy is the largest U.S. relief effort by the Red Cross in more than five years. Thanks to generous financial support and volunteerism, the Red Cross has been able to provide over 7.4 million meals and 5.2 million relief items to storm victims in the weeks leading up to the 2012 holiday season. Those interested in supporting relief efforts of the Red Cross this holiday season may shop online using the Red Cross Holiday giving catalog. The purchase of each gift item is a tax-deductible contribution to the overall mission of the American Red Cross,

David Highbloom, president of UMA, said, "While we are pleased to have Hurricane Sandy behind us, our thoughts are still with all the individuals who have suffered damage or loss, and we especially want them to know we have not forgotten them this holiday season."
