Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) December 22, 2012
Fighting for women's issues, Angel MedFlight's Colleen Pyra is ready to accept the challenge as Chair for the City of Phoenix Women's Commission. Working on topics like domestic violence awareness, equal pay for women and education are a few of the Commission's top priorities for 2013.
Announced last night at the City of Phoenix City Council meeting, Pyra was honored to accept the position after dedicating more than 12 years of her life fighting for social justice and women’s rights. On her appointment, Pyra says, “The work that the commission does is vital to bridging the gap between government and the private sector. As Chair, I'm committed to seeing that women in the community have a voice. That we stand we stand up for equality and justice - even in the face of adversity.”
With women’s issues so prominent in the media, Colleen Pyra is an excellent resource as an expert in women’s issues such as:
-Equal pay in the workplace
-Domestic violence during the holidays / Domestic violence awareness
-Effects of domestic violence on children / Teen dating violence
-Stats and figure of domestic violence issues (i.e., the current turn-away rate at women’s shelters is 50%, every 3rd day someone dies from domestic violence)
-Drug prevention and education
