Dan Norris of all people knows how hard it is to run a web design business. In 2006 he left a cushy corporate job to build his own web design business full time. After 6 years of hard work he sold it in 2012 to build his web design agency reporting app Informly. He's now helping other business owners by talking to all of the people he has come across in the industry in those 6 years on his new podcast Agency Talk.
"Running a web design agency is really tough. Websites are getting easier and easier to develop and there aren't many industries where globalisation and crowdsourcing are impacting as heavily as they are on web design. Every agency is up against extremely cheap labour, competition at every turn and increasingly demanding clients."
Dan says his new Podcast, Agency Talk is designed to deliver extremely actionable tips for people looking to build a business in the space. "I ask my guests for their top 3 tips each week on what web design company owners can do to grow a profitable business. I'm also asking for 1 software tip from each guest."
The podcast was launched last week with 4 great guests already and has already hit the 'New and noteworthy' section in the Australian iTunes store'. But Dan says Australia is only a small part of the market. "So far Informly has more users outside Australia with the US being the biggest market and my other podcast Web Domination has been downloaded in over 100 countries."
Guests on the podcast to date include well known speaker, author and successful web design agency owner Brendon Sinclair who covered the importance of building a recurring business model among other tips.
