Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) December 30, 2012
On December 30, Rapid Recovery Solution, a collection agency, responds to an article published by The Independent which reports that Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is sending warning letters to Britons who have not filed their 2011 tax returns.
According to the article, “Some 300,000 Britons who haven't filed tax returns for 2011 could face ‘debt-recovery actions’ including court proceedings and seized assets if they continue to ignore the Revenue's approaches next year.” The Independent reports that self-assessment workers whose late tax returns have penalties reaching £1,300, or 2098.07 in US Dollars will be receiving letters from HMRC. However, the article states that HMRC will wait until after the holidays before taking action.
In the article a Revenue spokesman stated, “We have no interest in seizing anyone's goods. The remedy to avoid all this is in the late-filer's hands: pay the penalty and file their late return, and if they think they should not have to complete a return, talk to us as soon as possible.”
John Monderine of US based collection agency Rapid Recovery Solution responds to the article by stating, “Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs is giving options for those who are late in filing their 2011 tax returns. People are given the opportunity to pay the late penalty and then file their 2011 tax return or they have the option to call and speak to someone from HMRC.”
According to the article, those who have yet to file their tax returns have received numerous communications, such as reminder letters and penalty notices, from HMRC since April 2011. The article continues to quote the Revenue spokesman who explained, “A customer can still phone us if they think they should not be in self-assessment, and if they shouldn't be, penalties will then be waived.”
