On December 28, 2012, Yumi Media commented on a Philly.com article by Vance Lehmkuhl regarding the city of Philadelphia’s growth toward vegetarianism.

According to the Philly.com article, 2012 has been an outstanding year for Philadelphia when it comes to vegetarian dining. The article states that, “HipCityVeg has taken Rittenhouse Square by storm with its mix of burgers, salads and green smoothies. And vegan fast food with a little more of a "health" overlay is the mainstay of VGE, in Bryn Mawr, which does sandwiches, wraps, soups and a kick-ass potato salad.”

The article mentioned that VegNews Magazine named the city of Philadelphia the vegetarian-friendliest, thanks to the huge popularity of Vedge restaurant, which was named Restaurant of the Year in 2012 by VegNews.

According to the article, “The ripple effect of Vedge continues to be felt citywide. Today, new burger joints more often than not offer a veggie (often vegan) version.” The article informed that even the pizzerias in Philly are throwing vegetarian pizzas on their menus.

Yumi Media commented on the article with their thoughts on Philadelphia being the vegetarian-friendliest. “The fact that a city, best known for its cheese-steaks, can become the most vegetarian-friendly, says a lot about the vegetarian movement,” says Yumi Media representative Takara Licausi. “If they can accommodate to vegetarians, than any city can, products like Quorn meat alternatives can help even meat-eaters go meat-free.
