Scotts Valley, California (PRWEB) May 09, 2012
InterWorking Labs, developers of network emulation and protocol testing products to improve the quality and operation of mobile, cloud, and wide area networks, today announced a new, more secure, version of the portable Mini Maxwell Network Emulator.
With network security and vulnerability issues an all-too-frequent occurrence in today's headlines, IT and Quality Managers are very aware of the risks posed by portable test equipment. Often test equipment fails to support secure web access or even monitoring. This leaves test devices vulnerable.
REMOTE AUTHENTICATION USER SERVICE (RADIUS) FOR WEB ACCESS
RADIUS is used by enterprises to manage access to their internal wired and wireless networks from a variety of users and devices. RADIUS authenticates users and devices before granting them access to a network, and authorizes the users and devices for specific network services.
IT and QA Managers may now use RADIUS to control web access to Mini Maxwell devices, assuring greater security and access control for the enterprise. Safe use of RADIUS requires secure http and thus https is now available via the Mini Maxwell web interface.
The Mini Maxwell implementation supports two levels of RADIUS servers for redundancy in the event that the primary RADIUS server is down or unavailable.
NEW SUPPORT FOR USER-DEFINED SNMP TRAP SERVER
Mini Maxwell sends SNMP trap messages to indicate that it has cold-started or to indicate the gain or loss of Ethernet "link-state" on interfaces. Any tampering with the Mini Maxwell system will cause an alert. Upon receipt of an alert, the IT or network manager may then take action to investigate and correct the problem.
“With its new capabilities, Mini Maxwell now meets the security and robustness needs of the most demanding clients, such as law enforcement,” reported Karl Auerbach, Chief Technical Officer, InterWorking Labs.
MINI MAXWELL NOW AVAILABLE AS A ONE RACK UNIT
As an alternative to the compact, portable, and lightweight enclosure, Mini Maxwell is now available as a rack mount unit for customers desiring physical security in their environments. The Mini Maxwell one rack unit package is available now at a price of $2,256.
