Nashville, TN (PRWEB) May 03, 2012
CCA, America's leader in partnership corrections, is celebrating and serving our troops abroad in a way that's unique to a workforce focused on safety and security, and improving the lives of the inmates entrusted to its care.
Items for CCA Patriot Packages are collected at drop-off locations at the company's more than 60 facilities nationwide. Active duty employee service members as well as troops who are relatives of employees are identified and will receive care packages.
"It's a way for our employees to let their colleagues and other troops know that they are appreciated and missed," said Caryn Worthey, CCA Employee Relations Coordinator "Our employee service members are our loved ones too, and they need to know we're thinking of them, support them and look forward to their safe return."
Working together, employees and inmates are preparing Patriot Packages, for staff and employee relative service members deployed overseas, containing cards, snacks, toiletries and additionally, hand-crafted items made by facility inmates.
"Last year was the first time we extended the Patriot Packages program to inmates," said Debra Orr-Brown, CCA Addictions Treatment & Behavioral Programs Manager. "Seven facilities are participating this year with inmates making greeting cards, hand-crafted items and original artwork for the soldiers to enjoy and display in their tents and barracks."
Items collected during the month of May will be packaged and shipped from facilities in June. The twice yearly program also collects care package items in October, which are mailed to troops in November, just in time for Veterans Day.
