Inferior quality lubricants being misrepresented in the marketplace is one of the most critical issues the Lubricants Industry faces today.
METUCHEN, NJ (PRWEB) May 11, 2012
The Petroleum Quality Institute of America (PQIA), is pleased to announce that Safety-Kleen Systems Inc. has joined the ranks of other industry stake-holders supporting PQIA’s efforts to assure the quality and integrity of lubricants in the market.
PQIA President Thomas F. Glenn says it "welcomes Safety-Kleen’s support and its commitment to quality demonstrated by its willingness, like all our supporters, to agree to our Supporter Code of Conduct.” Further, Glenn adds, “Safety-Kleen’s support along with that of our other supporters speaks volumes about our industry’s interest in assuring the quality of lubricants in the marketplace. While it is clear we face serious challenges with poor quality off-spec engine oils and other lubricants in the market, it’s encouraging to know that many in our industry are willing to step up to do something about it.”
Curt Knapp, Senior Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer for Safety-Kleen says, “Inferior quality lubricants being misrepresented in the marketplace is one of the most critical issues the Lubricants Industry faces today. It penalizes those who always sell top-quality products and play by the rules, like Safety-Kleen. And more important, it is deleterious to unknowing consumers’ vehicles; consumers who trust that our Industry is doing right by them.”
Understanding that PQIA started its program to monitor and report on lubricant quality a little less than three years ago, Knapp says, “Safety-Kleen waited to support PQIA’s efforts because we wanted to see commitment from many other key Industry players and we wanted to feel assured that PQIA’s efforts were well founded, fair, and effective. Without that, PQIA would have very limited impact. We are very pleased that there is now the broader involvement needed and there is a strong belief from many that ‘enough is enough’. We strongly urge others to join us.“
PQIA’s mission is to serve the consumer of lubricants by testing and reporting on the quality and integrity of lubricants in the marketplace. It is expected that this improved visibility of quality will lead to wider conformance by lubricant manufacturers to specification and performance claims. PQIA supporters include Chevron, CITGO, Phillips 66, Lubrizol, Infineum, Afton, Lubricating Specialties Co., Pinnacle Oil, Universal Lubricants, Warren Distribution, Warren Oil, AIOD, and now, Safety-Kleen.For more on PQIA see http://www.pqiamerica.com
