ScienceIndex.com is an Arts Sciences Social Network established in 1998 to index the very latest news, headlines, references and resources from science journals, books and websites worldwide. The site covers news in all fields of biology, business, chemistry, engineering, geography, health, mathematics and society. In the field of Social Sciences, the site has now included the two new categories Arts and Education. While the Arts category covers objects subject to aesthetic criteria such as paintings, sculptures, and drawings, the Education category covers the act or process of imparting or acquiring particular knowledge or skills, as for a profession.

ScienceIndex.com's Social Sciences Category covers the totality of social relationships among humans. Its twelve subsections include Anthropology, Archaeology, Arts, Education, Family, History, Law and Crime, Linguistics, Literature, Philosophy, Politics and Religion. Users can receive alerts if new content has been posted in this category by subscribing to ScienceIndex.com's Social Sciences RSS feed.

ScienceIndex.com's Arts category covers objects subject to aesthetic criteria such as paintings, sculptures, and drawings. It currently contains 1,987 articles partly derived from 35 scientific journals. The latest articles in this category are also available through an Arts Sciences RSS feed. One of the latest additions in this category examines the history of the production of Galileo's 1638 Discorsi. Through analysis of surviving correspondence, manuscripts, and proof copies, the author of the article examines in greater detail the working methods of Galileo and his correspondents, particularly in regards to the text's images. He shows that the volume was produced through a collaborative process in which Galileo's correspondents played a significant role in determining the work's layout, images, and content. Another recently published article in this category covers the rise and fall of the glassmaker Paul Bosc d'Antic (1753–1784). Bosc d'Antic's career, in its tension between his ambition as an academic author and drive as a technical inventor, and the economic interest of a free entrepreneur, provides an interesting example of the complex and contradictory evolution of the French chemical arts and manufactories during the second half of the 18th century.

ScienceIndex.com's Education category covers the act or process of imparting or acquiring particular knowledge or skills, as for a profession. It currently contains 2,856 articles partly derived from 34 scientific journals. The latest articles in this category are also available through a Education Sciences RSS feed. One recently included article in this category features the identity construction experiences of beginning English language teachers in Hong Kong. It offers an in-depth analysis of the experiences of two participants during their initial year of full time teaching in Hong Kong schools. The authors' findings suggest that the participants’ engagement in the practices and activities of teaching, their relations with colleagues, and their positioning within different discourses of teaching and learning by their schools as well as by the wider educational environment, shaped their decisions about whether to continue to pursue a teaching career. A related article provides results of a survey which was developed and distributed to Head Start teachers, assistant teachers, and aides in one three-county program to examine their motivation and well-being. Although start teachers are motivated by a deep service ethic and nearly all of them reported high levels of satisfaction, efficacy and confidence with no differences based on age, level of education, or position, many head start teachers reported dissatisfaction with their compensation.

ScienceIndex.com currently contains over 1.58 million stories distributed among 75 categories. 77,265 users monitor 9,789 journals covering the broad spectrum of sciences. Since new science content is discovered in real-time, the delay between original publication and appearance at ScienceIndex.com is no more than two days. ScienceIndex.com provides an advanced search feature which suggests up to ten closely related articles for a search and every selected story.
