The Water Center for the Humid Tropics of Latin America and the Caribbean (CATHALAC) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama have signed the Center’s host country agreement. The instrument was duly signed at Panama’s Bolivar Palace by His Excellency Roberto C. Henriquez, Chancellor of the Republic of Panama, and CATHALAC’s Director General, in the presence of Francisco Alvarez De Soto, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“The signing of this instrument is an important step towards cementing CATHALAC’s inter-governmental endeavors across the humid tropics of Latin America and the Caribbean as well as highlighting Panama’s leadership in integrated water resources management in the Hemisphere,” stated CATHALAC’s Director General, Emilio Sempris.
Established in the Republic of Panama since 1992, CATHALAC is an international organization dedicated to promote sustainable development through applied research and development, education, and technology transfer in the areas of water resources and the environment in the humid tropics of Latin America and the Caribbean.
