On July 24, 2012, various people across the planet are learning about new laws regarding indoor tanning and discovering that several companies, like Likewise Skincare, are creating products specific to anti-aging and sun protection. Although indoor tanning is a popular craze across the globe, dermatologists have stated that the phenomenon is dangerous. With so many people indoor tanning, governments have taken action to restrict the use of indoor tanning beds. Worldwide restriction laws are being passed in the United States and various other countries across the globe.

New laws across the United States will keep many Americans away from indoor tanning beds. According to an article in The Los Angeles Times, eleven states have given restrictions. The article states, “The U.S. had tanning-bed bans for minors and 21 required parents to either provide consent or go with their kid to the tanning salon. The U.S. also now has a 10% tanning bed tax, implemented in 2010 as part of health reform”. The article goes on to include that 20% of people in the United States will suffer some form of skin cancer at one point in their life. In recent years, dermatologists have made it increasingly clear that sun exposure and UV rays are dangerous for skin and that tanning (indoor as well as out) is a major contributor to skin cancer.

The ban on tanning beds expands further than the United States. Since 2011, Brazil has banned tanning for every citizen of their country. In total, eleven countries have banned indoor tanning for those who are 18 years old and younger. According to the article, these countries are, “France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Belgium, England, Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Brazil.” These various countries are opting for proper skincare rather than tanning. There are countless companies, like Likewise Skincare, that promote sun protection and moisturized skin. The warnings from dermatologists have clearly gotten through to many governments across the world.

Likewise Skincare was founded by board certified dermatologist and President of Likewise, Inc., Dr. Julie Pena. Likewise daily moisturizers are all-in-one but not one-fits-all. Each moisturizer is formulated with skin-balancing toners to work with your specific skin type. The moisturizers use a combination of anti-aging antioxidants, ultra-protective zinc oxide, and water-resistant ingredients to keep you protected.
