Bellevue, Wash. (PRWEB) August 15, 2012
ICD-10 experts from Edifecs Inc., a leading provider of healthcare software solutions, will discuss the challenges and best practices for ICD-10 testing at next week’s Medicaid Enterprise Systems Conference (MESC) in Boston. The session will outline potential risks and provide recommendations for minimizing operational impact through ICD-10 collaborative partner testing.
Edifecs’ Dr. Parag Patel and Kristine Weinberger will lead the discussion on ICD-10 testing, one of the most difficult testing projects many organizations will tackle due to the size of the change, cross-functional impact and dependencies with many trading partners.
The ICD-10 mandate is one of the most extensive conversion projects State Medicaid Programs and Medicaid providers will face. While a more strategic approach to testing requires new levels of collaboration and information sharing among trading partners, a failure to do so may result in significant coding and payment issues once the mandate is in full affect. Testing will be a key process for successful adoption of ICD-10 across the entire healthcare industry.
The mandate ushers in a new level of granular information that has the potential for taking the healthcare industry to a greater level of patient care by providing specific documentation to enable better health outcomes. Earlier this year, the Department of Health and Human Services proposed a one-year delay to the ICD-10 compliance deadline giving health plans and provider organizations additional time to assess the impact of ICD-10 and implement testing scenarios with trading partners.
