LaunchBit, an ad network for email, is launching a text ad API in private beta. This API will enable email publishers to monetize their emails with clean text ads. Today, some of the largest email publishers are consumer web/mobile applications, who send personalized email digests or newsletters to their users. These emails will typically have content about a user’s latest status or progress in an application and may also have selected-news or information. Though consumer web/mobile developers are often able to monetize their websites effectively through advertising, to date, there has not been a good way for them to monetize their emails.
"We designed the API with developers in mind. The RESTful interface is simple and straightforward; it should only take a few minutes to implement," says API architect Zachary Tong. To learn more details, please visit the LaunchBit text ad API documentation.
Email publishers will be able to make an API call and retrieve components of a relevant ad, which can be inserted into each email. These components include a 125x125px image and 190 characters of ad copy. LaunchBit uses an auction system to determine which ad to return. The LaunchBit ad platform returns the most appropriate ad based on which offer has the highest bid and is the most relevant for that particular email at that time. In this way, the auction system maximizes revenue for email publishers.
“We’re excited to help developers monetize their emails. We know the web is largely powered by free applications that are ad supported, and we’re pleased to release our API to help developers monetize through an additional channel,” says CEO Elizabeth Yin. To get access, developers can apply for an API key on LaunchBit's sister site newsletterdirectory.co.
