Newport Beach, Calif. (PRWEB) September 12, 2012
USC alumni and friends who participated in the evening’s festivities enjoyed a surprise appearance from WeAreSC.com blogger Garry Paskweitz, who joined Trojan football radio announcer Pete Arbogast in a lively discussion about the upcoming season. The live auction was especially entertaining, as it was hosted by Dan Dotson from the hit television show Storage Wars on A&E. Among the items for auction were a week-long stay in Hawaii and a one of a kind golf package donated by Bob Vokey from Titleist. Vokey, a kidney cancer survivor, generously offered this unique item last year as well – raising close to $5,300 for Kure It. The evening concluded with the much anticipated Trojan band performance and playing of the victory march, “Conquest”. In USC tradition, guests rose to their feet and displayed the familiar “V” for victory sign.
To date, Kure It has raised over $200,000 through the 901 Club Reunion. Kure It has also received support from other Trojan centered events, including a USC Phi Kappa Psi Golf Tournament earlier in the year which raised $7,000 for cancer research.
Barry Hoeven expressed his sincere appreciation of the continued and growing support from the Trojan event committee, sponsors and guests, including Traditional Jewelers, Newport Sports Museum, Apple Graphics, and El Cholo catering. “We are grateful to our donors and guests for their support of Kure It Cancer Research’s efforts. This year, Kure It awarded $100,000 to the Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health Sciences University, and an additional grant in the amount of $250,000 will be awarded through Kure It’s partnership with the American Association for Cancer Research. We couldn’t do this without their involvement, and we look forward to the advancements in treatment these projects will bring about.”
