Onward Behavioral Health (http://www.obhcares.com) has served the Philadelphia region for nearly 25 years by providing quality outpatient substance abuse treatment and mental health counseling services for children, adolescents, and adults. Onward Behavioral Health has added several new intensive outpatient mental health programs under their Light Program division in 2012. Programs have been added to Onward Behavioral Health’s Pennsylvania offices in Northeast Philadelphia, Radnor, Pottstown, Jamison, and Chadds Ford. In New Jersey Onward Behavioral Health has added intensive outpatient mental health programs to the offices located in Turnersville and Haddonfield. The Light Program (http://www.mylightprogram.com) is an intensive outpatient mental health program that treats adolescents and adults who are struggling to function on a regular basis. Within the Light Program there is unique programming available to individuals who are struggling with eating disorders.
Onward Behavioral Health is a private provider of outpatient behavioral health services that specializes in group and individual substance abuse treatment for adolescents and adults as well as group and individual mental health counseling services for children, adolescents, and adults. Substance abuse services are delivered through the Rehab After Work/Rehab After School Program while mental health services are delivered through Life Counseling Services and The Light Program. Onward Behavioral Health also has intensive outpatient and residential programming for adults suffering from eating disorders through The Light Program and Magnolia Creek Treatment Center for Eating Disorders which is located in Chelsea, Alabama. Onward Behavioral Health is a rapidly growing company with 34 office locations that is focused on introducing their counseling services to new markets. Onward Behavioral Health has greatly expanded its Light Program in 2012 with the opening of seven new programs. The Light Program has a group modality and meets four days per week for a little more than two hours per day. The goal of the program is to stabilize individuals whose mental health challenges have significantly impacted their daily functioning. Psychiatric services are available to program participants.
Guy Murray, President and CEO of Onward Behavioral Health, reports that The Light Program is his company’s fastest growing program. “Our Light Program has doubled in size over the past two years. We’ve made a concerted effort to introduce The Light Program in as many of our office locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersey as possible. The Light Program is a great option for the individual that needs more than one therapy session per week to function in a healthy manner”. When participants complete their treatment in The Light Program they are typically assigned a therapist who will work with them individually. “We provide a continuum of services for clients. A typical length of stay for a patient in The Light Program is three to six weeks. When a patient reaches the point where they are stabilized they will leave the group and attend weekly individual therapy sessions” stated Murray.
Within The Light Program there is a special track for individuals struggling with eating disorders. New programs in the Northeast Philadelphia and Pottstown locations are specific to eating disorders. According to Mr. Murray there is a recent emphasis on the treatment of eating disorders at Onward Behavioral Health. “We found that we had to create unique programming given the prevalence of eating disorders in our society. In addition to our outpatient programming through The Light Program we also have a residential eating disorder program in Chelsea, Alabama called Magnolia Creek Treatment Center. We are committed to providing excellent eating disorder treatment and growing our eating disorder programs”.
