In celebration of National Farm to School month, Learning ZoneXpress offers great educational resources to promote healthy eating with local foods offered on your lunchroom serving line.

Owatonna, MN (PRWEB) September 19, 2012

According to the National Farm to School Network, there are an estimated 2,571 Farm to School Programs in the United States. These programs are active in all 50 states, and they aim to improve student nutrition by encouraging a connection between local farms and school cafeterias.

Farm to School programs are incredibly diverse and creative. No two seem to be the same. Educators typically take it upon themselves to create, establish, and maintain these programs with the help of their community.

Farm to School Posters:
These posters remind us to keep it local. Build relationships within your very own community and encourage healthy eating habits for students, parents, teachers, and more.

Farm to School Bulletin Board Kit:
Whether you’re celebrating National Farm to School Month or promoting your program all year long, bulletin board kits are a great way to display important information. The Farm to School Kit includes a variety of colorful photos and content cards featuring information on the benefits of farm to school programs, eating locally, where food comes from, and more.

Farm to School Static Clings:
This is a great way to reinforce Farm to School programs at the front of the lunchroom serving line. Letting students know where their food comes from helps bring these initiatives full circle and provides an understanding and appreciation of local food.

Learning ZoneXpress hosts two blogs that promote healthy eating in schools: Smart School Lunch, a look at the inside of school cafeterias from foodservice professionals and 1 Great Tray, which highlights the changes and impact of the new USDA dietary standards for school.
