Edinburg and Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 18, 2012
The University of Texas Pan-American (UTPA), in collaboration with Academic Partnerships, announces the launch this fall of a new online degree program for professionals who seek to advance their career in public service – the Master of Public Administration (MPA). This is the first time UTPA’s MPA program is available online.
Following the success of UTPA’s other online master’s programs, this new offering further demonstrates the University’s commitment to innovations in online education and expanding its portfolio of flexible, affordable and high quality online degrees to better serve students in Texas and across the country.
"UTPA’s online MPA degree provides greater opportunity for graduates to find meaningful careers, while meeting an increased need for public administration professionals. By making our MPA degree accessible online, we extend support for careers that strengthen our flourishing community,” said Dr. Cynthia Brown, UTPA vice provost for Graduate Studies.
In Fall 2012, UTPA , in partnership with Academic Partnerships, successfully launched an online Master of Business Administration program.
"We are proud to make available another excellent online degree program for the growing number of students seeking to further their knowledge of public management,” said Rob Ganji, president of Academic Partnerships.
Public administration as a discipline developed from the study of political science, management, and law. Public administration, both as a scholarly study and professional preparation, is interdisciplinary in substance and methodology, borrowing from economics, sociology, psychology, business, industrial engineering, as well as political science and law.
At UTPA, the study of public administration at the graduate level is intended as professional preparation for public service in governmental agencies at the federal, state, regional and local levels and for the non-profit sector. The MPA program offers students the opportunity to develop skills required to properly serve the public and to have successful public sector careers.
