The team competition has twenty-two matches, including men and women open singles and doubles and NTRP-rated men and women singles, doubles and mixed doubles matches. Players, often nationally and state ranked and teaching professionals with college and/or tour experience, are selected by team captains.
The Naples team will be headed by captain Pete Minarich, Director of Tennis at Pelican Marsh. He is a graduate of Wake Forest and his singles ranking has been as high as #3 in Florida Men’s 35s. He has worked with many young ranked players and has coached at both the Wimbledon and U.S. Open Championships.
Jeff Timmer, Director of Tennis at the Colonial Country Club, leads the Fort Myers team. A long-time resident of Ft. Myers, he played his college tennis at Edison College. He is ranked nationally in the top 10 of the 45 age group.
The Challenge is a community event, opened to the public. There are no admission or entry fees.
