The U.S. Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association describes the Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner credential (CPRP) as a test-based certification that fosters the growth of a qualified, ethical, and culturally diverse psychiatric rehabilitation workforce through enforcement of a practitioner code of ethics. CPRPs incorporate the most successful and cost-effective practices for adults with severe and persistent mental illness and ensure that staff has mastered the principles, skills and knowledge necessary to carry out those practices.
A major part of overcoming the barriers toward recovery from mental illness is having the right support at your disposal. Support comes in many forms from organized groups to skilled mental health experts to friends and family. Park Center believes each of these is just as important as the other - mental illness is something nobody should have to face alone.
Park Center President & CEO Barbara Quinn explained that they do have a highly trained staff that provides guidance and support, but in the end the healing process is up to the individual. “As soon as you walk through the doors at Park Center, you can be assured that each employee and volunteer is ready and willing to provide you with the right tools and support. Park Center’s staff of Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioners helps members focus on the qualities and skills each individual has within themselves. The key message we always try to emphasize with members is that recovery is a possibility.”
“A better trained staff means less turnover and better services to the members we serve,” says Dani Lieberman, Director of Quality and Operations. “CPRPs learn to refine their role as a facilitator in the recovery process. The member owns the process. The staff helps to move it along while offering hope, support and resources.”
