This acquisition signifies a great opportunity as it allows us to take our success and strong industry reputation in serving top designers and retailers to a well established consumer market.

Austin, Texas (PRWEB) December 19, 2012

International Hanger, a premier provider of custom clothes hangers to major retailers, high-profile designer brands and hotels, such as Macy’s, Ralph Lauren, Omni and Hilton, announced that it has acquired the Great American Hanger Company. The acquisition expands the 22-year-old Austin-based company’s success in business-to-business markets to online consumers and residential customers. As part of the agreement, the Great American Hanger Company’s employees and business office in Miami, FL are now part of International Hanger.

“This acquisition signifies a great opportunity as it allows us to take our success and strong industry reputation in serving top designers and retailers to a well established consumer market,” said Kurt Lemke, president of International Hanger. “The Great American Hanger Company has a proven business model using the internet and social media to build long-term relationships and loyalty with consumers, as well as reach smaller retail outlets and distributors.”

“The Great American Hanger Company is very proud of its record as an early adopter of ecommerce and the incredible growth that it generated,” said Devon Rifkin, Great American Hanger Company. “This acquisition provides a lot of synergy to help drive and enable the growth of the business in the next chapter.”

The Great American Hanger Company was established in the late 1990s and saw immediate success in building a business model based on selling hangers through Internet storefronts, most notably Hangers.com and HangersDirect.com. The company also touts many celebrities as key customers.

International Hanger plans to focus on growing the online business through its disciplined approach to managing costs and inventory. Lemke also has a background in online retail as the major owner of Nuo Tech, a designer and distributor of fashion-forward and eco-friendly cases for laptop computers, iPad’s and e-reader devices. Its products are sold in Staples stores across the United States, on http://www.ShopNuo.com and through many online resellers.

“We plan to leverage our experience gained in marketing and distributing Nuo products to consumers to help further the growth of our Internet presence in the garment hanger world,” said Lemke.

Previous acquisitions by International Hanger have broadened both its customer base and its product line. The company’s acquisition of Austin-based Nagel Manufacturing’s customers in 1999 added new major national retailers and designer brands. The purchase of Montrose Hanger in 2005 expanded the company’s presence in the hotel market and brought folding luggage stands into its line. With the current acquisition, the company now has the nation’s most comprehensive coverage of Internet sites specializing in hangers including Hangers.com for consumers, ClearanceHangers.com for great deals, GiftHangers.com for unique gift ideas, I-Hanger.com for business customers, and MontroseHanger.com for hotels.
