The Prospero Foundation, founded by Ulrik DeBo of DeBondo Capital, is proud to announce that a donation has been made to the Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL). AIL works to empower Afghans by expanding their educational and health opportunities and by fostering self-reliance and community participation
For the ten years prior to 2001, the women and children of Afghanistan had no access to education, until the fall of the Taliban. At this point, the AIL organised Educational Learning Centres (ELCs) to bring women life-saving healthcare and education, helping local leaders to decide where and what services were needed. Over the years, local requests for ELC’s have grown exponentially and 39 centres are currently supported throughout Afghanistan and within refugee camps in Pakistan. The centres are run by women and adhere to local customs and rule, opening up the eyes and minds of thousands of women in dire need.
AIL currently serves 420,000 women and children each year, but there are many more that still need help. A donation like this one from The Prospero Foundation will go a long way to achieve this.
