What’s a friend worth this holiday season? In a survey conducted by CreditDonkey, a credit card comparison and financial education website, most respondents said they plan to spend under $25 on gifts for each of their friends.
Not surprisingly, the survey confirmed married respondents are more likely to focus their spending on family, while single respondents are more likely to focus their spending on friends. Just under one-quarter of the married respondents will spend $25 or more on their friends while 30% of the single respondents are willing to spend that much on their buddies. When it comes to family members, 83% of the married shoppers will go over the $25 mark while 70% of those without a spouse will do it.
Surprisingly, across the survey pool, not many family members plan to go over the $75 threshold, making it more unlikely that fancy electronics will be swapped within families. Just 21% of survey respondents said they will spend more than $75 on each person in their family.
