75% vs. 55%: Men More Confident in Getting Out of Debt, Says Survey

75% of male respondents are confident they can get completely out of debt in their lifetime, compared to 55% of females, according to a new survey by CreditDonkey.com, a credit card comparison website.

Men are also slightly less likely to be worried about debt, with 55% of male respondents saying they are concerned about how to pay off their debt, compared to 62% of females.

Highlights:

•     66% of male respondents have debt. In comparison, 76% of female respondents have debt.
•     Breaking the data down by age group, 74% of adult respondents 18-24 are confident they will ever get out of debt. In comparison, only 52% of adults 35-44 are confident they will ever be debt-free.
•     Most respondents plan to use a budget to pay down their debt. Getting an additional job and negotiating with creditors are other top ways respondents plan to pull themselves out of debt.

CreditDonkey.com polled 1,105 Americans on their savings and debt between September 17 and 25, 2012.
