High shipping costs are a bigger barrier to online shopping than the inability to touch and try products, says a new survey by CreditDonkey.com, a credit card comparison website.
Survey Results: http://www.creditdonkey.com/why-shop-online.html
Highlights:
- 34% said high shipping costs prevent them from doing more online shopping. In comparison, 33% view the inability to touch a product as a deterrent to buying a product online.
- 15% said waiting for the merchandise prevents them from doing more online shopping. Only 9% are afraid that products will not match their description.
- 6% fear their credit card information will be stolen.
Consumers are swayed by convenience and price when they do go online to shop rather than visit a store. Just over half (52%) said convenience is the main reason they shop online, 28% said price is their number-one reason, and 13% listed selection.
CreditDonkey.com conducted the online survey of 1,246 shoppers in the U.S., age 18 and over between August 20 and September 2, 2012.
